Brasserie Croque-Notes

, in category Bands

The musicians of Brasserie Croque-Notes have been playing in various formations for many years, and singer Jo Vermeulen has been equally fascinated by the music and lyrics of Georges Brassens. The musicians and singer came together in 2003 at a party at ‘Café Local.’ Since then, they have occasionally performed some songs by Brassens – in private settings, during a French evening, or in a musical pub.

The group consists of Jo Vermeulen (vocals and guitar), Veerle Verhulst (violin), Kris Van Daele (double bass), Jan Moonen (guitar), and Tom Meeuws (percussion). The group’s name refers to their anthem and Brassens classic ‘La princesse et le croque–notes.’

This year, they are preparing a new program, a new perspective, and some new songs - with Brassens, you are never done. This year, the winding paths of life will be the central theme. The ‘faux pas’ in all its forms and colors: what do we do to each other, what do we do to the earth, where have we lost our way… With compassion ‘pour ceux qui ont mal tourné’ (for those who have gone astray). Title: On a fait fausse route (We took the wrong turn). Witty, sometimes coarse, but always generous. Brassens remains a tender anarchist!
